Lawson Mechanics Institute

Located on the Great Western Highway within walking distance of Lawson railway station and shopping centre, the Lawson Mechanics Institute is a focal point of the Lawson township.

This beautiful old building has been upgraded with improved access, parking facilities, a foyer and accessible toilets. The carpark is accessed only at the rear via Orient St and Yileena Avenue.

Built in 1903 using old building materials from the original Lawson railway, it was built with the idea of providing tradesman with an alternative to drinking and gambling, however it was and still is, heavily utilised as a community meeting place.
